The West Nile Virus dead Bird Hotline runs from mid April to mid October. The Hotline hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. If you have any dead birds to report, Hotline staff will help evaluate if the specimen is viable for testing, if so, they will contact the Colusa Mosquito Abatement District for pick up, and to start the testing process. Birds must not be dead longer than 24 hours, and in reasonably decent shape for testing purposes. The number to report a dead bird is:

1 877-WNV-Bird (1877-968-2473).

For more information concerning West Nile Virus, and to also submit an online dead bird report, you can visit WestNile.ca.gov
